Solar EPC South Africa
Battery Storage & PV Solutions

Symtech Solar is the solar EPC South Africa trusts for reliable power — because power should never be a gamble. Rising electricity costs and an unstable grid put pressure on businesses, farms and communities alike, and solar energy paired with battery storage offers a dependable way forward. Symtech Solar Africa exists to build that future with you, as a single, accountable EPC contractor from the first design to the final handover.

Under an EPC contract, the client entrusts Symtech Solar and its partners with the complete execution of the work — engineering design, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning, and even the finance where the project suits. We assume responsibility for engineering services, procurement of materials, hiring of teams and equipment, and execution of the work, delivering a plant that is ready to operate on an agreed deadline and with clear guarantees. Operation and maintenance can be included during the warranty period and, optionally, for the lifetime of the installation.

Rooftop, ground-mount and carport solar systems designed and installed around your energy profile.
Battery Storage (BESS) EPC
Standalone or solar-coupled battery systems for backup, load shifting and peak reduction.
Agrivoltaic Systems
Solar generation and working farmland from the same ground, so farms diversify income while land stays productive.
EPC with Finance
Where the project suits, we structure delivery together with finance through our partners — so you can move from plan to power sooner.

We build with local teams, local partners and local communities, because the best projects are delivered alongside the people who will live and work with them. Start with an inquiry, or read on to see how you can join us.

Agrivoltaic Systems in South Africa

Agrivoltaic Systems in South Africa

At Symtech Solar, we are taking renewable energy one step further with agrivoltaics — the use of land for both agriculture and solar photovoltaic generation. By allowing working lands to stay working, agrivoltaic systems help farms diversify income, create a better growing environment and build a fully working renewable energy ecosystem.

Our major South African development, the Sunstream Solar Farm in Gauteng Province, is being developed as a planned 250MW agrivoltaic facility with 160MW of battery storage. The project has not yet begun construction, but we are preparing to bring clean power and working farmland together on the same ground.

Partner Profiles
Symtech Solar Group

A global renewable energy company specializing in photovoltaic (PV) systems and battery energy storage solutions, with a focus on megawatt-scale solar and battery projects.

Symtech Solar optimizes the deployment of large-scale renewable energy systems through engineered product lines tailored for on-grid, off-grid, and hybrid configurations. Their pre-packaged PV and battery kits deliver integrated solutions that reduce procurement complexity, eliminate multi-vendor coordination, and ensure component compatibility across inverters, modules, batteries, and balance-of-system equipment.

For utility-scale and commercial MW-level installations, Symtech Solar provides fully customized solar and battery systems. These solutions are designed in direct collaboration with clients and delivered in containerized volumes, incorporating high-capacity PV arrays, megawatt-hour battery storage, power conversion systems, and energy management controls. This approach minimizes on-site assembly time, lowers installation costs, and accelerates project commissioning while maintaining strict performance and interoperability standards.

Symtech Solar Africa

Founded in 2021 as a special purpose vehicle for a consortium of South African companies, and led by Ray Richardson. Symtech Solar Group provides the pre-engineering, system design and manufactured equipment. Symtech Solar Africa delivers and commissions projects on site with local partners.

South Africa EPC Q&A

What does an EPC contractor do on a solar project in South Africa?
An EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contractor takes single-point responsibility for delivering your project — design and engineering, permit verification, procurement, construction, grid integration, testing, commissioning and handover.
Does Symtech Solar build battery energy storage (BESS) projects?
Yes. We deliver battery storage as standalone systems or paired with solar PV, including integration, interconnection, performance testing and commissioning.
Can Symtech Solar arrange finance?
Where the project suits it, we can structure delivery together with finance through our partners. Send us your project details and we will advise on the options.
Do you build agrivoltaic projects?
Yes. Agrivoltaics lets working land stay working while generating clean power. Our Sunstream Solar Farm in Gauteng is a planned 250MW agrivoltaic facility with 160MW of battery storage. The project has not yet started construction.

Join Our Co-op

Symtech Solar Group is a global renewable energy company focused on solar PV and battery energy storage. Our strength is upstream: pre-engineering, system design and the manufacturing of the equipment that powers these projects. Symtech Solar Africa, led by Ray Richardson, is where that equipment is built, connected and commissioned on site by trusted local partners.

Our goal is to collaborate rather than compete. That is why we are expanding our network of installers, electrical and civil contractors, engineers and project developers across South Africa — and we invite you to join our cooperation.
